Invisalign Clear Aligners
About Invisalign: The Brand Behind Clear Aligners

Invisalign is one of the most recognised names in modern orthodontics and a pioneer of clear aligner technology. The brand is produced by Align Technology, a U.S. medical device company founded in 1997. The idea for Invisalign was developed by entrepreneurs Zia and Kelsey, who believed teeth could be moved gradually using a series of removable aligners rather than traditional braces.

The Invisalign system began commercial sales in 1999. Since then, it has been used to treat over 20 million patients worldwide, becoming one of the most widely used clear aligner systems in orthodontics.

Is Invisalign right for you?

For many people, the answer is yes. Whether you just want to love your smile a little more, you think you’ve got a particularly tough case, or you are a parent with a child whose teeth are still growing, see what Invisalign treatment could do for you.

Overbite

An overbite is when your upper front teeth overlap with your lower front teeth. Most people have at least a little overbite. When your overbite is too large, this can cause problems, from your teeth wearing down to pain in your jaw. Dentists use a percentage to describe overbites, and 5 to 25 percent is ideal.

Underbite

An underbite is when you close your mouth and your lower front teeth are in front of your upper teeth. In many cases, this is actually a problem with your lower jaw being too far forward.

An underbite can make it hard to chew properly and speak clearly, and it might cause your teeth to wear down more quickly

Crossbite

Crossbite is when you close your mouth and some of your upper teeth are sitting inside your lower teeth, rather than on the outside.

A crossbite can make your teeth wear down or chip. It can also make your gums start to recede or make little notches above your gum line. This kind of damage can lead to painful gum problems or even bone loss.

Gap Teeth

When you have extra space between two or more of your teeth, this is called spacing issues or gap teeth.

Gap teeth can create pockets between your teeth and gums where food can get stuck. It can make your gums tender and sore and even lead to gum disease.

Get in touch to see how our dentists can fix this issue for you with Invisalign.

Openbite

If your upper and lower teeth don't touch when your mouth is closed, this is called an open bite.

An open bite can make it hard to chew or difficult to bite into some common foods, like apples. This condition can place irregular pressure on your jaw joint and individual teeth, which can lead to gum recession, bone loss and worn-down teeth.

Crowded Teeth

When you don't have enough room in your jaw for your teeth to fit normally, your teeth can bunch up, overlap and twist, sometimes getting pushed to the front or the back.

Crowded teeth can make it hard to brush and floss well. Then it’s easier for plaque, tartar, and harmful bacterial to build up — and down the line, this can lead to tooth decay and gum disease.

Frequently asked questions about Invisalign
Frequently Asked Question Invisalign
Frequently Asked Question Invisalign

What is Invisalign treatment? Invisalign treatment is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. No brackets and wires, and none of the restrictions that come with metal braces.

How much does Invisalign® treatment cost? In most cases, the cost of Invisalign treatment is comparable to the cost of braces. Your dentist will determine the cost of your treatment based on how complex your case is and how many aligners you need.

Frequently Asked Question Invisalign

How is Invisalign treatment different to other teeth straightening options? Invisalign clear aligners are made from SmartTrack proprietary material to deliver more predictable tooth movements. Unlike most other clear aligners and retainers, Invisalign aligners and retainers are trimmed based on each patient’s gum line to provide optimal patient comfort and aesthetics.

Frequently Asked Question Invisalign

Are there any restrictions on what I can eat while in treatment? None! Invisalign clear aligners are removable, so there are no food restrictions at all (hello popcorn!). With traditional wires and brackets, there’s a long list of foods you unfortunately can’t enjoy because they can damage or get stuck in your braces.
