Our Building
Our dental practice is situated in the beautiful Grade II Listed Building at 75 Boutport Street, Barnstaple and we are very proud to be part of the history of our medieval market town.
History
75 Boutport Street is a grade II Listed Building, built in 1833 and first listed on 31st December 1973 for its architectural and historic value. It was originally listed as Boutport Street No.75 Barnstaple and North Devon Dispensary.
The building has kept its historical character through the years, and
internally contains many features of historic and architectural interest including various cornices, skirtings, architraves, panelled doors, staircases, the overall plan form and windows. The building has however been neglected for many years, damaged as a result and some of the original features were unfortunately removed during previous refurbishment(s)
in the past.
The renovation
After a long search for the right premisses around Barnstaple and as soon as the building came onto the market, we knew that this is the place we want to establish our future dental practice in. We purchased the historical building in September 2023 with the intention to bring its beauty back to life and restore its remaining features. Taking the big task of restoring a listed building onto our shoulders included many applications, gaining permissions and taking many limitations into consideration.
We began the extensive refurbishment in summer 2024 which lasted one year and we are thankful to all of our neighbours for their patience with us and contractors for their help fulfilling our dream.
We are proud owners of a piece of the Barnstaple history.
