Clear Aligners
Clear aligners are transparent, slim, and flexible plastic trays that fit snugly over your teeth, similar to a lightweight mouthguard. Treatment involves wearing a sequence of custom-made aligners, each designed to gradually shift the teeth according to a personalised plan created by your dentist. They are particularly popular with adults who prefer a more discreet option than traditional fixed braces, especially where professional or social commitments are a consideration.
As with all orthodontic treatments, a thorough assessment, accurate diagnosis, and carefully planned approach are essential for successful results. Detailed impressions or scans of the teeth are taken to fabricate bespoke aligners. Each tray gently guides the teeth closer to their desired position before progressing to the next aligner in the series, continuing until the planned outcome is reached. For best results, aligners should be worn continuously throughout the day and night, removing them only when eating or drinking.
